Ruthie fell off her horse and is tired. She is ready to quit until a girl that is also riding invites her to ride with her. Her is name is Katlyn. Ruthie hesitates but excepts. They ride awhile and when they come back Simon is waiting for Ruthie. Ruthie tells Simon that he should go and talk to Cecilia. He wonders why she is so happy and she tells him about her day.
     Simon goes to the school and lets himself in (Cecilia works with her father as janitors for the school and while Simon went out with Cecilia, he got a job helping them). He asks Cecilia why she has been avoiding him. She doesn't want to talk about it and just keeps on avoiding him. Cecilia's father then lets Simon go out with her because he doesn't like the guys that she has been going out with lately.  

     Roxanne is mad at Chandler because a girl (Sheryl) comes in his office for advice from Eric. They have this huge fight and she wants Chandler to take her to the Camdens. Lucy has to give her a ride home. Ruthie tells her to go and give Roxanne another try. She accepts. Lucy then tries to talk to her but Roxanne just wants to be taken home. Roxanne later apologizes to Chandler that she was so jealous.

     Ruthie calls her new friend Katlyn, only to find out that she has CF (a disease of the lungs that reduces her life). Ruthie asks Eric to take her to the hospital to she her. Eric does take her there and Ruthie learns how and why to appreciate life, because you never know what might happen.
